Hi, I'm Marshall.
I'm a Software Engineer at Gridmatic. I work on Platform & Infrastructure, focused primarily on improving reliability for trading and the operations of grid-scale batteries. I find it mentally stimulating and fulfilling. I learn a lot -- usually every day.
Before Gridmatic, I was working at LinkedIn. That was a great experience. I had the opportunity to work on incredible teams with incredible people.
In all aspects of life, I love to move fast. I enjoy riding bikes, and sometimes I race them too. I screw up a lot in the races, but sometimes I do ok. My favorite climbs are here. You can also subscribe to get updates on my bike rides via an RSS feed here. I'm not sure why you would, but you can if you want.
I don't really like social media -- or at least most modern interpretations of it. I used to like it. When I was younger, I had a MySpace. I became acquainted with basic web programming after discovering that I could customize my profile with code. That aspect was really cool to me. It's pretty much gone away now. Newer mediums like Farcaster seem promising though.
Instead of posting on social media, I prefer to write longer-form updates for friends. That's mainly what this site is for. It is built using Astro.js, which is overkill but it's fast. I'm working on bringing down the page sizes. I found Astro extremely easy to pick up, so that's nice.
If you want to get in touch, email is probably the best -- hi@marshallmiller.org.
Sometimes, I take mediocre photos with a mirrorless camera I got several years ago. You can see them here.
